Celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2026, ICMSA marked the occasion in September with teams in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane planting wattle trees, the company’s official emblem.
Past Chairman Bryan Holliday believed the wattle to be a perfect symbol for ICMSA because, like the company, the wattle is blossoming somewhere each and every day around Australia.
The Melbourne team travelled to Strzelecki Nature Link in South Gippsland, starting the day with a Smoking Ceremony and Welcome to Country from an Indigenous custodian of the local lands, Boonwurrung Country.
The Strzelecki Nature Link is a project of Greenfleet which is restoring a 3.5 kilometre stretch of contiguous habitat for koala and other important Australian animals.
The Sydney team travelled to Australian Botanic Garden at Mount Annan where they planted a wattle grove of over 100 saplings within the 416 hectare park that is being restored with natives.
And the Brisbane team swapped their keyboards for shovels and travelled to bushland just a short distance from the CBD, also helping to restore the area with a variety of wattles, local to the region.
ICMSA CEO and Owner Emma Bowyer said it was a fantastic experience for the Australian teams and a great way to mark the company’s 60th anniversary.
“We have made a commitment that this will be an annual event which means we can continue to walk the talk of our pledge to manage events in a sustainable way and give a little bit back to our precious environment.”
